Abstract

Data reconciliation methods are essential across multiple source systems because enterprises often store related business records in separate applications, databases, files, and reporting platforms. Reconciliation helps compare, validate, and align data from different sources to identify mismatches, missing records, duplicate entries, timing differences, and inconsistent values. Existing literature highlights rule-based matching, record linkage, checksum comparison, tolerance-based validation, exception reporting, master data comparison, and audit trail analysis as major methods for cross-system reconciliation. However, many organizations still face challenges such as inconsistent data formats, delayed synchronization, duplicate transactions, missing identifiers, source-system errors, and weak exception tracking. This research is important because unreconciled data can affect financial reporting, operational accuracy, compliance monitoring, and enterprise decision-making. This article discusses data reconciliation methods across multiple source systems, focusing on source mapping, matching rules, variance detection, duplicate identification, exception handling, reconciliation workflow design, and validation reporting. The study concludes that effective data reconciliation improves data consistency, reduces operational risk, strengthens audit reliability, and supports accurate enterprise-level information management.
