Data validation rules are essential for financial transaction databases because these systems must maintain accurate, complete, consistent, and secure records of payments, receipts, transfers, invoices, and account balances. Financial databases require strict validation to prevent incorrect entries, duplicate transactions, invalid account references, amount mismatches, date errors, and unauthorized data changes. Existing literature highlights format validation, range checks, referential integrity, duplicate detection, balance verification, transaction status control, audit trails, and rule-based exception handling as major practices for financial data validation. However, many organizations still face challenges such as inconsistent transaction formats, missing mandatory fields, delayed reconciliation, incorrect customer or account mapping, weak approval controls, and poor error tracking. This research is important because invalid financial data can affect reporting accuracy, compliance, fraud detection, cash-flow visibility, and managerial decision-making. This article discusses data validation rules for financial transaction databases, focusing on field-level checks, business-rule validation, referential constraints, reconciliation controls, duplicate prevention, authorization checks, and exception reporting. The study concludes that effective validation rules improve transaction accuracy, reduce financial errors, strengthen audit readiness, and support reliable enterprise financial data management.
